Malacanang yesterday declared September 7, this coming Monday, a National Day of Mourning and Prayer for the late leader Ka Erdie Manalo of the Iglesia ni Cristo. Hence, it is a Special Non-working Holiday in the country. Likewise, September 21, also a Monday, was declared as another Special Non-working Holiday in observance of the Eid'l Fitr which is celebrated by our Muslim brothers.
While watching the Evening news last night, there was a surge of text messages as the good news spread like wildfire among our office mates that it's going to be a national holiday on Monday. Everyone was ecstatic. However, I texted my friend who is a businessman, for him, unexpected holidays like these are bad news because it would mean low income. My Tita Malou, meanwhile sent me an e-mail telling me that it's amusing that there has been a Holiday spree declared by the government since last month. Remember there were three holidays in August.
Anyways, I am happy that it's going to be another long weekend because it means more time to spend with my mom and more time to blog. Woohoo!!
