So much mystery and superstition has been regarded with the number thirteen since the olden times up to our modern age. The number thirteen has often been stigmatized as an inauspicious number which portends bad luck. Even our modern day architecture has strictly adhered to this superstition as most buildings do not have a thirteenth floor like our office building. Everyone is also cautious about Friday the thirteenth because according to some superstitious beliefs, something undesirable and unfortunate might happen. However, despite these superstitions, some people regard the number thirteen as their lucky number. Come to think of it, it's just but a number and by chronology, everyone has to go through thirteen no matter what. I guess no matter how much we try to avoid it, there will always be number thirteen that goes after number twelve and that goes right before number fourteen.
Like our personal milestones, we cannot say we have to skip our thirteenth birthday because we have to go through it. If we try to analyze it, thirteenth birthday should be something that is special and memorable because it marks our entry to another exciting stage in our lives, our teenage years. So it is just but fitting to receive a keepsake 13th birthday gift like what I got from my parents when I turned thirteen. I remember back then that I was so crazy about this boy band back in the 90's that for my thirteenth birthday, my parents gave me keepsakes with the boyband's picture on all those stuffs.
So what are usually great ideas for 13th Birthday Gifts? During high school, which usually begin on age thirteen in our country, most of my classmates began receiving jewelries such as necklaces and bracelets from their parents as gifts for 13th birthday. I remember that I got a necklace which was previously owned by my mom as one of my presents.
See, not all things associated with the number thirteen are unpleasant and undesirable because some of them also holds special memories that are worth keeping like a thirteenth birthday or a thirteenth anniversary. I guess it is about time that we let go of old superstition if we are to live happily because sometimes most of these superstitious beliefs are what's keeping us from truly enjoying our lives. It hampers us from living freely and making the most out of every moment.
