When I started blogging, I was very eager to learn everything about blogging and stuffs like how to get a page rank, driving traffic to one's blog, search engine optimization and tried as much as I could to absorb all of these things. But as time went by, my interest waned although my love for blogging has remained. Late last year, I have set up my latest blog called Davao Snapshots which is specifically made to put together snapshots, thoughts, happenings and all other interesting things about my hometown Davao City. Months passed but until now, I have no visitors to this blog. The reasons were clear to me, one is that I seldom write a new post and I have not linked with other blogs and have not done blog visits to promote my site.
Last week, I suddenly remembered checking my Technorati authority for this blog and the other one to see if it has improved over the year. I was surprised to know that it actually dropped! One of the important tips I got when I started blogging was to sign up in a web directory in order to make one's blog more visible and that these directories can actually help drive traffic to one's site. I realized instantly that this is what I have failed to do with my new blog.
So here I am again, back to basics. For those who have a newly set up blog, there are benefits you can get out of signing up in a free web directory. Simply put, it is a directory of websites and blogs which is further categorized in terms of the niche of one's blog. Signing up is absolutely free so you don't have to worry. If you don't know which web directories to sign up to, you can try signing up with the more popular ones like that of the Yahoo directory. So now I am off to a signing up spree for my blog. I hope that it will finally level up with my two other blogs.
